LAMP Fellows 2017-18 - Profile

The Fellowship was started in 2010 and had 12 Fellows in the first batch. Subsequent batches have around 50 Fellows each year. Till now, 243 Fellows have graduated from the Fellowship. Fellows come from very diverse educational and professional background. In the past, Fellows had degrees from some of the prestigious institutes like St. Stephens, LSR, IITs, IIMs, University of Cambridge, London school of Economics, Princeton University, Tufts University and University of London.

 

LAMP Fellows 2017-18 

About 1800 candidates applied for the Fellowship this year, out of which 51 candidates made it as LAMP Fellows, batch of 2017-18. The Fellows come from diverse backgrounds and a snapshot of their profile is provided below.

Gender

Of the 51 Fellows, 53% are women and 47% are men.

Regional Diversity

The Fellows come from 18 different states in India. The chart provides a snapshot of the states they come from. Relatively higher proportion of candidates are from Delhi followed by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

 
 
Though the eligibility criteria for the Fellowship do not require any post-graduate degree, 20% of the LAMP Fellows have a post-graduate degree.The academic background of the candidates is diverse as shown in the graph below. Lawyers top the list followed by Social Science graduates and Engineers.
 
 

Work Experience

More than a fourth of the LAMP Fellows 2017-18 have worked in a professional environment for at least 6 months. The industry they come from is diverse and covers sectors like Information technology, Manufacturing, Media, Finance, Law and non-profit.
